![]() Too bad you couldn't get the Dark Terror to work for you, that was the very first Terror I ever heard 5 years ago and was quickly sold on them. I do hope Orange comes out with a few more of them going forward and expect that you will no doubt provide a killer video demo of it, however, I'll bet I beat you to the punch and get it first! The OR15 I also don't have but that's only because I'm on this lunchbox amp fad which seems that it will go on indefinitely. I don't have the Tiny Terror or Dual Terror because they don't have the FX Loop which I make full use of with my boards all setup for the 4-cable method. But its what I've read on this and other forums about the Brent Hinds being designed to have a classic Marshall voice and not so much your typical Orange crunch which to me is darker and warmer and incidentally was what I loved about from the start of the Rocker 15, Jim Root, and Dark Terrors. ![]() When others ask me if I think it sounds like a Marshall, truthfully I cannot answer that since the only Marshall I had was the rack mounted 8008 Valvestate power head that I paired with the AST DST4 12AX7 tube driven Preamp for the EQ/Gain, so I actually never had a vintage Marshall amp. ![]() ![]() Its a spiky bright EQ, far too much for my taste, while I have learned to meld with its tone and more recently gained a greater appreciation of the amp, it was the only one of my Terrors I had a tough time warming up to from the very beginning, finally I succeeded at setting up the EQ for a tone that I do like now. To me its twin brother, the Brent Hinds is the black sheep of the family, not at all voiced like all the other Terrors. If you like early black Sabbath tones then the drive channel on the rocker terror is perfect for that, if you want a great pedal platform then all it takes is a high quality tmb pedal and you have one very flexible amp indeed. Switched the bbq on and the tmb settings I chose were absolutely perfect, the treble, mid and bass frequencies were perfectly balanced and I had an excellent tmb tone stack for the amp.job done. I cranked up the volume with the bbq pedal switched off and using the bridge pickup and it was far too aggressive. As we all know eq'ing for bedroom volume and loud volume, especially if you use a Tele, are very different indeed. I took my amp, cab and pedal board out to my garage so as I could hear the pedal in use with some volume. It is impeccably made and completely transparent regardless of where it is hooked up on your board or how you use it. There were about four pedals I narrowed it down to and the one I purchased was a boutique, hand made buffer and eq pedal made by Dr Henning Vahlbruch in Germany. So how to rectify this situation ? The pedal I set out looking for had to have full TMB tone stack but not one where the controls are interactive with each other, been there with a boogie MK1 reissue combo and never again. As the natural channel has no tone controls utilising bridge single coils without eq help is absolutely savage in a Roy Buchanan type of sound.ouch !! The factors I needed to consider were I play tele's only and we all know how aggressive the bridge pickup can be. I bought the rocker terror 15 to use as a pedal platform utilising the natural channel, single volume control ( non master I believe ) and just 1 gain stage from a 12ax7.perfect for pedals. I'll do an in-depth demo of that one as well one day. What's not to love? Does anyone else own one? Ever try pedals with it? I also have a Brent Hinds Terror and that amp is VERY different. This amp sounds great with boost pedals as well. This channel also turned out AMAZING with my Friedman BE-OD Deluxe and Diezel VH4-2 so as it turns out, this amp is a great pedal platform! ![]() It does have a lot of headroom for a small amp but it can be driven to nice overdrive. It only has one control (master volume basically). Just so nice and fluffly! Great for any genre basically but the greatest for Indie Rock, rock, stoner etc. I'm not saying it can't do metal, especially with a boost, but the Tiny Terror for example has a sound that's slightly better suited for that. It's perhaps one of the more gentle or vintage sounding Oranges of the bunch. Yup, I love those little things The Rocker 15 is unique when compared the others. I've had this Orange for about a year or so and I have 5 other Orange lunchbox amps. Making these demos always is a good opportunity to really learn what the amps can do. I finally got around to making an in-depth demo for my Orange Rocker 15 Terror head. ![]()
